Project Overview

GEM Joinery was appointed to deliver the full specialist joinery and external façade package for the Ballyogan Operations and Maintenance Depot — a critical support facility for Dublin’s light rail network, designed with a strong emphasis on durability, functionality, and refined architectural detailing.

Working closely with the main contractor and Bucholz McEvoy Architects, GEM Joinery developed detailed production drawings to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the manufacturing and installation process. Key features included:

  • External timber façade in Siberian Larch, offering a robust, weather-resistant finish with clean architectural expression
  • Integration of external glass fins within the timber cladding to provide rhythm and control natural light
  • High-quality internal joinery across operational and public zones, tailored for durability and design continuity
  • Solid Maple timber windows and doors, providing a refined finish across all access points
