Rolough House, Kilcar Co. Donegal
Rolough House situated along the Wild Atlantic Way is an old-style cottage which is been renovated to combine the old style with a modern touch this included a new extension to the house along with conversion of existing out building to be incorporated into the house. GEM Joinery has been awarded to manufacture, supply, and install Bespoke External Windows, Screens and Doorsets to both the new build and the existing buildings by a private client.
Block D Elm Park Merrion Road Dublin 4
GEM Joinery have been appointed to manufacture, supply, and install Bespoke timber wall Linings, timber Fins over reception area and curved timber floor perimeter details to Block D Elm Park.
GEM Joinery Factory Extension
GEM Joinery has recently added a spraying line to its manufacturing facility in Longford. This facility was installed to improve the quality and efficiency of production. It allows us to better serve our existing client base and gives us capacity to expand our markets. Enterprise Ireland has offered grant aid to GEM Joinery to help assist with the funding of new equipment. This grant aid has been secured through the Capital Investment Initiative co-funded under European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
GEM Joinery Overall Winner at Wood Awards 2014
Congratulation to GEM Joinery and all the Joinery team on picking up 3 awards at the Wood Awards Ireland 2014 last Friday 28th November. The three awards included Overall Winner Award and Large Scale Public Buildings Award for Ballyogan Depot; the International Award for Vessel Venice Biennale.
GEM Construction were also commended on the night for the Passive House in Meath in the Small Scale Private Building category.
Chain of Custody certification for GEM Joinery
GEM Joinery has successfully achieved dual certification for Chain of Custody (CoC). Chain of Custody certification allows companies to label their products, which in turn enables consumers to identify and choose products that support responsible forest management.
Chain of Custody certification is essential for businesses seeking to access environmentally and socially aware markets, or to demonstrate compliance with public and private procurement policies that specify environmentally responsible materials. These include BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology), the EU Ecolabel scheme for furniture, or the US Green Building Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.
Facebook Specialist Joinery Package
GEM Joinery has been awarded the contract for the supply & installation of bespoke specialist joinery to the Facebook offices in Dublin. We will be carrying out the fit out for the Facebook Facilities at 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2. Interior office fitout of existing 8-storey office building over basement including meeting rooms, open plan offices, tea stations, staff canteen w/catering facilities, new lighting & furnishings to existing roof terrace.
Restoration of St Mel’s Cathedral
We are pleased to announce that in a joint venture with our partners, Gem Purcell Ltd have been awarded Contract No.5A for the completion of the full restoration and conservation works to St. Mel’s Cathedral in Longford.
This contract is an extension of the Contract Nr.5 that we have recently completed on this landmark building, which dates back to 1856. The overall value of the works awarded to us, is now in excess of €18m, making this one of the largest conservation projects of its kind in Europe.
Venice Biennale 2012
The Venice Biennale is the most important event on the international contemporary architecture calendar. Thousands of the world’s most influential architects, designers, urban planners, developers and critics visit the Biennale, with considerable discussion and commentary in the architectural press and general media as a direct result. David Chipperfield, the artistic director for this year’s Biennale, has invited O’Donnell + Tuomey to prepare a special installation. This is to be sited in the Corderie, a prominent location at the centre of the Arsenale exhibition space. O’Donnell + Tuomey’s intention would be to return the timber structure for exhibition in a public space in Ireland in the Spring of 2013. The OPW have committed to provide a site for the public display of the pavilion structure.
London School of Economics
The New Students' Centre will be the first new building at LSE for more than 40 years. It will be constructed on the site of the current St Philips buildings within the campus and gives every indication of being an exemplary piece of architecture that is innovative, sustainable and inspirational, and which will be at the forefront of 'Contemporary Westminster’. The striking building design is by Irish architects O'Donnell & Tuomey, supported by an excellent design team.
GEM Joinery have been awarded the design and installation of the complete external timber facade and entrance canopy. This involves design of all elements of the jatoba hardwood curtain walling system to CWCT test standards, including bespoke fixing system. The canopy design includes for mild steel, jatoba, and glass to be a focal point of the entire building programming for this complex installation of the façade on a restricted London site and the interface of same with the building management system for control of both heating and ventilation.
